What You need to know You need to lodge a Notice of Intention
A full month before you intend to get married. You can do this by seeing me I have a wonderful software programme that does it for you. The Notice of Intention remains valid for 18 months after you lodge it. What to Bring with you Your Birth Certificate or your passport, for proof of Birth and your Drivers Licence and any Divorce Certificates if you have been previously married. A Death Certificate if your former spouse has passed away. How long does it take? About an hour an a half to two hours depending on the information required. What do I give you? A receipt for lodging the Notice of Intention, my business card, a pamphlet titled "Happily Ever Before and After" containing information you need to know such as health and welfare benefits, changing your name, Citizenship, making a will and general marriage information. A diagram of ceremony positions if you require one, a list of suggested music if you need it, with a folder to put it in. After I perform the ceremony I give you a presentation folder, the actual one I read from on the day with your ceremony in it and you photo on the front to commemorate the occasion, it also contains pockets for your Marriage Certificate and your final receipt.
Things to think about
Firstly you need to settle on date even if you have to change it later for some reason it will give you a starting point. Remember if you have guests that have to travel let them know in plenty of time so they can organise their travel arrangements, if you have elrderly relatives it is best to pick a reasonable time say between 11am and 4pm to have your wedding. Choose a Venue There a lots of places to choose from which on another tab I have given you photos and phone numbers where they are available. Depending on how much you want to spend or the area in which you want to have your wedding. If you don't want to spend a lot of money simply have it at your home or here, I charge a very reasonable price. Or if you want a lavish wedding pick the venue according to your price range, preferably a sheltered one in case it rains. Other Things Your choice of music, I have a range of wedding music to show you or you can choose your own. The music that is played when the guests are arriving is called " Prelude" music generally soft background music such as "The Canon", the music played when you walk down the " Isle " or up to wherever ever you are standing is called the "Processional" generally the bridal waltz the music that is played during the signing is called the "Interlude" generally something like "Air" and the music at the end is called the "Recessional" something like "Royal Fireworks" or "Cleopatra" of course this is just a guide you can choose whatever you like. Don't forget to choose your Rings A good choice of rings is very important because you will wear them for the rest of your life. I have some beautiful ring ceremonies or I can write a special one for you. The Vows You can choose your own vows or I can write them for you as long as I perform the legal "bits" such as the "Monitum" and the legal parts of the vows you can choose what you like best, give it some thought. Interpreter If an Interpreter is required usually a member of your family or a friend as long as they speak both English and the Language required, and are prepared to sign the "Certificate of Faithful Performance by Interpreter" form. And Finally Try not to stress too much, remember this is a happy day, a day to remember.
